The electrolyte challenge
We measured the amount of electrolytes in each sports drink.
problem question
which drink has the most electrolytes out of gatorade, powerade, orange juice, cocnut water, propel, neuro sport, or vitamen water.
Hypothesis
If we test the electrolytes for gatorade, powerade, orange juice, propel, neuro
sport, vitamin water, and coconut water then we predict gatorade will have the
most electrolytes.
sport, vitamin water, and coconut water then we predict gatorade will have the
most electrolytes.
Background information
We know coconut water has many electrolytes. Electrolytes are particles with electricity.
Procedures
1. Using the wire cutter, cut 2 pieces of copper wire, each about 15 cm.
2. Make a conductor sensor: a) Wrap one piece of wire aroungd the pen cap near one end a few tiimes, having a 5 cm (2 in.) tail wire. Wrap the second piece of wire around the other end of the pen cap a few times a 5 cm. tail of wire. Caution: Make sure the wires do not touch.
3. Plug the multimeter test leads into the mulitmeter. a) Negative end prob goes into the lowest three holes. (Hole labeled COM.)
4. Use one of the two pairs of alligator clips to connect the positive (red) wire of the 9 volt battery.
5. Attach clip to ( black) probe.
6. Use binder clip to clip to metal other wire of sensor.
7. put sensor in liquid
8. read measurement

variables
Independent variable: Are indepent variable was the types of drinks.
Dependent variable: Are dependent variable was the amount of electrolytes.
constants: The amount of each type drink.
